Q: Will the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico affect the race at all?
A: At this time, it is impossible to predict how and where the oil spill will have an impact. We are watching the situation closely, and will take direction from Sarasota County regarding the safety of the swim. If the beach is open, then we will swim. Otherwise, we will do a mass start duathlon, but this seems unlikely at this point.

Q: What time will I start the race?

Q: What time does transition open?
A: Transition will open at 5:30am race morning and close at 6:45 so plan accordingly. Parking will be in the Siesta Key public parking lot beginning at 5:15am.
Q: Can I pick up my race packet race morning?
A: Yes, but it is HIGHLY DISCOURAGED!!!! We have a very limited window to open the transition area and get the race started by 7am so please make every effort to pick up your race packet at the EXPO between noon and 7pm on Friday May 14th at the Holiday Inn Express. We do this only as a consideration for those traveling from long distances on race day, but if we run into difficulties we will not allow this in future races. Please be considerate.
Q: Will I be running on the beach this year?
A: Depends…. Both the Sprint and International distance DUATHLONs will have the first leg of their events run along the beach (International a 5k and Sprint 1 mile). The last leg of all races will run their respective distances through the wooded trails then onto the sidewalk to a turnaround then back. NO beach for this portion of the run…
Q: Will there be an aid station for the bike?
A: NO…. Please bring your own hydration/nutrion for the bike.
Q: Can I use a mountain bike?
A: Sure! Party on…. Except there is no "fat tire" division so you'll be racing against others who might have a more aerodynamic machine… but don't worry you're a much better runner so you'll smoke 'em on the final run!!!!
Q: Can I wear my wetsuit?
A: Probably not. Race officials will make final determination on race morning but we've never had a wetsuit legal race and this year we moved our date forward an additional week…..
Q: Can I pick up someone's race packet for them at the Expo?
A: Yes, but you'll need to bring a photo ID of them AND A VALID USAT ID FOR THEM AS WELL!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS ON THIS ONE!!! All participants MUST have a Valid USAT ID… You can purchase a one day or annual membership at the Expo or on race morning… THIS INCLUDES ALL MEMBERS OF RELAYS!!!!!!
Q: Will I get a medal?
A: Depends… We have a VERY COOL finisher medal for the INTERNATIONAL DISTANCE RACE ONLY. This is our featured event and only added the sprint to encourage participation in the sport. If you want a medal make sure you're in the International Distance event…
Q: Will I get a T-shirt?
A: YES! However we were planning on around 500 partipants but have greatly exceeded that number! So if you were one of the first 500 people to register you're t-shirt will be in your goodie bag. All others will have a coupon which you can bring to our presenting sponsor Wilde Honda at 7333 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, and pick up your shirt. These shirts are ordered and expected to arrive late May / early June. You will receive an email when the shirts can be picked up….
