The FIT triathlon is a special qualifier for the USAT National Age Group Championships at the International Distance in Vermont. The top 20% in each age group category in the International distance race qualify for the National Championships!

Dear Athlete,

The Florida International Triathlon is fast approaching. I have some updates for you.

First, the international distance race, which is the special qualifier for Nationals, has a change in the run course. The endangered Snowy Plover is nesting on the north end of Siesta Key beach. The Audubon Society has asked us not to run there. Instead, the 10 K run for the international category will start on the sidewalk south on Siesta Key. The new run course is posted on the website.

Second, as always, we will wait for the word from Mote Marine that the endangered Sea Turtle nests have been marked. This is not new and every year we have to wait for clearance before the race begins. But it is something to watch out for. Siesta Key is rated the Number One beach in the world, and we are not the only animals enjoying this part of the world.

Do not expect a wetsuit race.

Do not bring your bike the day before. All bikes will be racked on race morning. Transition opens at 5:00 AM!

USAT officials will be on hand with special awards for the international distance winners.
